Overcrowding, slum lords, Blackmail and Building manager SYDNEY CBD

This month we are going to talk again about a dirty business like in all our other topics.

This one is happening in heart of SYDNEY in the CBD.

It concern three residential buildings and some other here in SYDNEY:
Millennium Tower 289-295 289-295 Sussex Street and 192 Day Street SYDNEY NSW 2000

Emporio Tower 339 Sussex Street SYDNEY NSW 2000

The Peak Apartments 2 Quay Street, Haymarket

Cassia Garden 591 George Street Sydney

The both building allow some of their residents to do overcrowding unit business we call them slum lords.

Overcrowding unit business in SYDNEY is usual some scrupulous persons (slum lords) are renting unit from landlords or private owners and use to bring too many people inside to make extra money, but not a small amount but a big amount usually between 500 to 1000$ weekly benefits.

How ?

They install bunkbed in each room and find tenants (8 up to 15 tenants) using gumtree or other websites, then they ask them for 120$ to 180$ weekly of rent.

Most of SYDNEY Landlords are aware of this and don't care as of course this is make them money too and keep all rent in SYDNEY at a very High Price (as any new unit available will go in 1 day time).

The matter for people running this business:

The matter for all slum lords doing this illegal business is to give access to the building to their tenants.

Two way to enter into a building is by using a swipe key or the intercom.

-Swipe Key
Since some years already there is great security system of swipe keys who are not possible to be duplicate and who guaranteeing that no one will use it for this illegal business.

For e.g. the company HID sell iClass security key or the company Sielox Keys are guaranteeing a security access as they can't be duplicated.

Unfortunately most of residential buildings and even commercial buildings or BANK  in SYDNEY are using the old security KEY HID 2 who can been duplicated using a simple copier that anyone can buy on EBAY.

-Intercom
Another way to enter in a building is to use the intercom.
When someone answer the intercom and unlock the door that will allow him to enter into the lobby then into the lift then allow him to press the right floor.

Of course it mean that you need to have someone in the UNIT to open but there is since years now a system that you just connect to the intercom named Auto Intercom or Answer Machine or BlackBox or Mobile intercom for the last version.

It's allow the person who call the apartment equipped with this sort of machine to enter into the building and use the lift without waiting anyone to answer the intercom.

The machine will automatically open doors for you and unlock the lift or for the new version (mobile intercom box) you just call a mobile number then the intercom will open doors and the lift.

This system can be buy online or some people install them for you for a very cheap price here in SYDNEY it's of course illegal too.

Most of SYDNEY BUILDINGS allow this intercom machine and don't do anything to stop it even if they could just cut the connection between the lift and the UNIT, it mean if someone use this system only the lobby will be unlocked.
Or they could install new intercom system like some building did already.

Millennium Tower, Emporio tower and the Peak Apartment and many others such as Cassia Garden, are allowing this intercom machine and keep using old swipe keys.

Building manager of this buildings and landlord of the Emporio Tower and Cassia Garden are aware of the situation.

For Emporio tower and Cassia Garden the Landlords are managing the whole building through a Chinese Company and knows that the whole building is overcrowding.

If you want to see, you just have to look at the windows to see Bunk bed...
They will not change anything until someone die.

For Millennium tower it's another story, they also are aware of the situation but on their case the building manager and his staff are doing blackmail to their slumlords.

They allow them to use intercom machine they know that they are slumlords and know how many people live in their unit by monitoring security camera, but in exchange of thousand $ they will not report them to their landlords.

On this case it's even worse than what happen on Emporio Tower but it's also happen on some other buildings.
